Phoebe, a recent graduate from the Printed Textiles and Surface Pattern Design BA course at Leeds College of Art, is a versatile and playful designer, combining and crossing the disciplines of Illustration, Printmaking and Surface Pattern Design to create outcomes that are truly unique and beautiful.
Phoebe's practice centres around the relief printing technique of lino printing, an often bypassed medium in the fields of Illustration and Print Design. Although a passionate printmaker and handcrafter, as a designer, care is taken not to shun or forget the relevance of digital design programs in today's creative industries. Phoebe aims to use these digital design packages in conjunction with her printmaking practice, enabling her to manipulate colour and composition, and create large scale designs. This union of traditional handcrafting processes and digital manipulation achieves outcomes which have a handcrafted and textured feel whilst also remaining crisp and vibrant.
Much of Phoebe's practice is influenced by the natural world, with floral designs being a recurring theme throughout her portfolio. Colour too, is an integral theme throughout Phoebe's extensive collection of prints and designs, and in particular a passion for exuberant and unusual colour combinations.
With a keen eye for detail, Phoebe is passionate about the creation of aesthetically pleasing designs. To date, Phoebe has exhibited in numerous locations throughout the UK, as well as having gained the accolade of being one of the editor of WGSN's 'Top Picks of London's Design Graduates for Illustration' after being seen at 2014's New Designer's Exhibition in London.
